L-Carnitine IV Therapy

L-Carnitine IV Therapy

L-Carnitine is a compound involved in how the body uses fat for energy. At La Belle Clinic, L-Carnitine therapy is provided as a clinical service following consultation and medical assessment.

What is L-Carnitine?

L-Carnitine is a compound derived from amino acids, produced by the body and also obtained from the diet, mainly from red meat and dairy. Its role is to transport long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they can be used to produce energy.

Most people maintain adequate levels through diet and the body’s own production. Levels can be lower in some circumstances, including certain dietary patterns and some medical conditions.

About IV Delivery

Oral L-carnitine has variable absorption, and a proportion of an oral dose is not absorbed. Intravenous delivery bypasses the digestive tract and produces higher circulating levels than an equivalent oral dose. Whether this is clinically appropriate for you is assessed at consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

01.When will I see results?

Responses vary between individuals, and results depend on your circumstances and the reason for treatment. Your practitioner can discuss what’s realistic for you.

02.What's the difference between the infusion and the injection?

The IV infusion delivers L-carnitine slowly along with fluids directly into a vein. The injection is given into the muscle and takes less time. Your practitioner will discuss which is appropriate for you.

03.Is L-Carnitine therapy safe?

L-Carnitine is produced naturally by the body, and it’s also administered here as a prescribed preparation, so it isn’t suitable for everyone. We review your health history and current medications at consultation to determine whether treatment is appropriate for you, and your practitioner will discuss the risks with you beforehand. Please see our Safety Information section.

04.Can I combine L-Carnitine with other infusions?

Some clients receive more than one nutrient therapy. Whether a combination is appropriate depends on your health history and medications, which we’ll review at consultation.

05.Does the treatment hurt?

Most people report a brief pinch when the needle or cannula is inserted. Most find the rest of the session comfortable.
