Healthy Skin Comes From Within

Blog 6 Dec, 2021

Treat your skin, both inside and out, to create a radiant glowing complexion. Internally you can feed your skin through good nutrition and positive lifestyle changes. Taking healthy nutrients into the body is the best way to keep skin healthy.

Healthy Skin Comes From Within

In our last blog post, we discussed the importance of Vitamin C and it’s benefits for fighting viruses, whilst also helping to rejuvenate and enhance hair, skin and nail quality (view blog here). However, in this article we are going to discuss two other treatments offered at La Belle Clinic that contribute to inner health and skin health. They are Glutathione infusions and Vitamin B12 shots. Both of these treatments are part of La Belle Clinic’s aesthetic wellness program, administered by our wellness certified medical team across all La Belle Clinic Clinics. We are one of the only clinics in Sydney to not only tend to our client’s cosmetic needs, but also to their wellness needs.

So let’s jump straight in!

Glutathione Infusions

Glutathione is a peptide that is naturally produced and found in every cell of the human body. It is made up of 3 amino acids:  glycine, glutamine and cysteine, and is the body’s strongest internal antioxidant. It’s incredible ability to promote skin health, body function, overall mood and well-being is what La Belle Clinic Medical Professionals LOVE the most about Glutathione infusions, AKA- The Master Detoxifier.

Glutathione is essential for improving immune function, reducing inflammation, breaking down fat, promoting high energy and mental clarity. On the aesthetic side of things, Glutathione is brilliant at brightening the skin by erasing hyperpigmentation and inhibiting melanin production in cells, as well as providing anti-ageing properties.

Common symptoms of Glutathione deficiency are:

  • Headaches
  • Problems sleeping
  • Frequent illnesses
  • Dermatitis
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Painful joints
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Mood instability or depression
  • Skin disorders
  • Heart disease
  • Autoimmune disorders

The best way to boost Glutathione intake is via a Glutathione infusion at La Belle Clinic. An IV infusion of Glutathione delivers the powerful antioxidant directly into your bloodstream, bypassing the digestive tract where satisfactory absorption is not a guarantee. Basically, trying to boost your Glutathione levels through supplements will not be as effective as IV treatment. In fact, several studies have linked long-term use of Glutathione supplements to low zinc levels, and patients consuming the nutrient orally have reported digestive distress including abdominal cramps and bloating.

The Power of B12 injections

Vitamin B12 is a nutrient essential for your blood, brain and nervous system. Also known as cobalamin, Vitamin B12 is integral to your overall health that your body needs but cannot produce. Therefore if your diet lacks Vitamin B12 rich foods, or your body has trouble absorbing the vitamin, you may be part of the 15% of all adults who are deficient in Vitamin B12.

Common symptoms of Vitamin B12 deficiency are:

  • tiredness
  • light-headedness
  • rapid heart rate
  • easy bruising and bleeding
  • weight loss
  • bowel upset
  • sore tongue
  • pale skin
  • shortness of breath
  • memory loss
  • tingling in the hands or feet
  • Anemia

To balance your Vitamin B12 intake you may consider taking supplements, however this can be an ongoing (therefore pricier) way to boost your intake. At La Belle Clinic we offer Vitamin B12 shots that are administered intramuscularly, ensuring you are receiving the recommended dose of the purest form of Vitamin B12. La Belle Clinic Medical certified wellness practitioners recommend receiving Vitamin B12 shots every three months for ultimate inner health.
